WOW(wide open whatever) is giving me the opportunity to continue conceptually with different ways mental health distorts reality. Focusing on how things can become what they are not. Struggling with a mental health disorder produces extremely convincing thoughts that can change the way people think about themselves, their relationships, their purpose, if any. My inspiration is coming from Shell Silverstein's poetry. I read his work as a child and when I think of the vulnerability mental health creates, I can think of a similar untouched one that I had as a child. I think poetry is an interesting way to supplement an expression of mental health through art because you can only produce so many words when describing feelings that can be indescribable.
To convey my concept I want to create a series of stills. Producing collages in photoshop, drawing over those photos in procreate and then adding text where I see fit. The poetry I want to produce will be of few words and in somewhat of a metaphorical context. I want the text to add to the images they are produced with rather than replace. Maybe finding a way to intermingle text and image in ways that strengthen the message being conveyed.
