ABOUT ME

Hello, and welcome to my site! My name is Ari Alpert and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, currently studying art practices. I built this website to share my love for artistic creations and to ultimately produce a platform expressing the realness of art and the many things it can capture.

I find most of my creative energy being directed towards drawing, painting and digital art. Figure and portrait drawing are a love of mine, and something that I am still working to perfect. A newer interest of mine deals with photoshop and collage. I find  manipulating images and recreating them into a completely different context such a fascinating and consuming process. I am able to apply a new meaning through relationships between color, object and figure. An aspect of digital art that I find myself drawn to are the possibilities. This media opens up a unique side of art making. I see it as limitless.

Looking back, most of my life I have been one to create. Music, food, drawing, painting, all of which I consider forms of art. The earlier years of my life had more of a central focus around music. It wasn’t until I started at CU Boulder that art fell more into the picture. I began to realize the strong effects that the act of producing art had on me. It was a destressor, a creative outlet, a place to put my thoughts and emotions. I began to realize that art is beautiful not just from its aesthetics, but what it represents. It is a way to free our minds from the social boundaries that we have set for ourselves. A craft that connects our mind and body, forming it into a means of visual expression.
