Recently I have felt a lack of the creativity that is usually pumping through me. An extended period of time where you are not creating can really put up a blockade when you decide to start again. It has been some time since I was constantly creating, especially in an academic setting. I want to use this project as an opportunity to feed my creativity and maybe even shrink the block that is presently in the way.
To help explore myself as an artist and give space for creative freedom I am going into this project with some broader terms and concepts than I normally would.
I picture the formatting of my work to be similar to that of an art journal or less formal art book. Studies, drawn pieces, and references all included in a somewhat collaged and overlapping format. Nothing too chaotic as I want each still to feel like its own work of art as well as a cohesive set.
Conceptually I want to work with ideas surrounding the body, the face and its features, and color. Combined, they will reveal emotion and details of the beauty of our anatomy. My current plan of action is to find portraits and figure photography I am draw too. From there recreating parts of the body that feel exposed in that image or feel they need more of a spot light. I want it to feel a bit messy in the way that you are getting insight and recreations of a single or even multiple images. Color wise I think it could be interesting to create each spread in a monochromatic manner.
