PROJECT 1

This project challenged my idea of perfection and artistic boundaries that I tend to set for myself. While I played with color, the portrait, and the human body, I also played with what I think of as art and the tension that it creates between me and my practice. I simply allowed myself to let go of what I thought was good and make something that felt fun and free. Welcoming this project with an open ended concept ultimately led to a meaning that may not necessarily be tied to the visual outcome. This project was solely about creating in the moment and letting my instincts take the lead. My idea of what good art should look like was no longer in control. Rather than the art itself holding the meaning, the process holds the concept. If you are looking to produce perfection, it will always fall short. If you are looking for an outlet, something fun, something pure, there is no need for perfection.
